The old English measure of the 16th Century was described in a number of different ways. It could be slow, solemn or tuneful. The term was also used to refer to particular dances. Some might be lively, others more stately. In keeping with this the following compositions are varied in character.

After the suite in F the next two pieces may be played as a pair. The title Fleuret refers to an early dance step that has the rhythm 

There are no page turns within the movements and left hand fingering has been kept to a minimum.
